 Mark Jonathan is internationally renowned, multi-award winning, lighting designer of  Dance, Drama, Opera, Musicals and Arena Productions all around the world. 

Mark has lit dance (contemporary and classical) for companies including: The Royal Ballet; Birmingham Royal Ballet; Northern Ballet; Scottish Ballet; Houston Ballet; American Ballet Theatre; Berlin Staatsballet, Stuttgarter Ballet; Ballet Capitole de Toulouse; London Children's Ballet; Ballet K; the Tokyo Ballet and the National Ballet of Japan.

In opera he has designed for: Banff Festival; Bayerische Staatsoper; Bolzano; Danish National Opera; Royal Danish Opera; Finnish National Opera; Maggio Musicale Firenze; Glyndebourne; The Guildhall School of Music and Drama; Israeli Opera; Los Angeles Opera; Opera Holland Park; Potsdam; Scottish Opera; Spoleto Festival; Opera National du Rhin - Strasbourg;  Royal Swedish Opera;  Vlaamse Opera; Teatro Real Madrid; Theater an der Wien; Washington National Opera; Welsh National Opera and Opera Northern Ireland.


Mark has designed for dramas and musicals with production ranging from London's National Theatre and West End to Dublin, Paris, Broadway, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto as well as many of the UK's leading regional theatres such as the RSC, Nottingham Playhouse, Manchester Royal Exchange, Birmingham Rep, Chichester Festival, Bristol Old Vic, Sheffield Crucible, West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Edinburgh Festival as well as all of the principal touring houses.

Mark is an honorary fellow of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He is the Deputy Chair of the Association of Lighting Designers.
